Abstract

This research presents a study on infidelity as an act of gender-based violence; this masculine practice is normalized therefore is invisible in society caused by stereotypes, customs, and beliefs; the aim of this research is to determine the direct correlation between partner infidelity and violence.
In other countries of region, great progress has been made on gender-related issues, such as the Colombian Council of State that given off a stride, identifying a woman`s misery caused by cheats of her spouse.
From the research it can be infer that infidelity is a violent act that prejudice psychological and physical woman`s health, in most cases they assumed themselves without professional attention and the consequence are illness.
Violence within the context of infidelity has transformed into a public health issue that mark or extinguish the lives of countless women.
The methods employed in the research are qualitative, inductive, deductive, bibliographical analysis, synthesis methods are employed, along with interviews of victims, activists, mental and social health professionals.
