This essay aims to recognize the limitations and scope of punitivism in the search for justice and reparation in cases of violence against women. To this end, it will address the main criticisms of the punitive system from feminist currents, which have contributed to the problematization of the punitive role. Subsequently, the parameters, approaches and mechanisms of punitivism in the treatment of aggressors will be recognized, together with the negative impacts on women survivors of violence. With this, the aim is to problematize the punitive system as the only and best way to manage cases of violence against women, in order to be able to open a dialogue on other alternatives of response, search for justice, comprehensive reparation and guarantees of non-repetition.
