Abstract

In Latin America, the development process has become a process of pseudo modernization that does not aim to solve the fundamental problems of society, such as poverty and human exploitation. This is an issue that has been debated since the early 1980s, and about which much remains to be said. Urban and rural poverty have specific characteristics that make it necessary to analyze them separately and consider whether there really is a "culture of poverty" in our continent.
