Abstract

The cultural patrimony of a society is its main characteristic of identity, that offers foundations to its being, reasons of existence and values of human coexistence. You allow of its importance, the world-wide community has made enormous efforts after its defense, protection, recognition and spreading. This study tries the reflection on the loss of decorative architectonic elements of certain buildings of aims of the s. XIX and beginnings of the s. XX, of the city of Quito, that for being few and strangers, face a real danger of disappearance, by negligence, ignorance and negligence. The mentioned elements are the kraters, with which the silhouette of these constructions was come to ruin and finalized its decorative treatment. The aesthetic sense of these buildings, is mutilated and incomplete, in absence of these important “details”.
