Abstract

From an interdisciplinary perspective, the analysis of mediatized family in the context of international migration and gender studies becomes an important topic as permits to explore from several dimensions the social facts of the family institution. This paper tackles the analysis of media roles acting as “actors” and “scenarios” within the migrant family practices. For this purpose discourse analysis of media on migrant family has been carried out.. Finally, focus groups with people involved in migration issues were conducted for the study of reception. The research concludes that mass media play a double role as deconstructs and reconstructs the social imagery of the migrant family.
