Abstract

Nitrogen is one of the most nutrients required by plants. The objective of this research was to determine the use of N by the mature oil palm (five years) by applyíng K and N in the dry and rainy seasons of 2009 and 2010, respecfívely. The effects of KCI and K2504 (269.13 g K [palm]º') to be applied with ammonium (27.65 g N [palm]º') with 10% “N abundance in excess with source ammonium sulphate was ínvestigated in N derived from fertilizer, N use efficiency, total N, and dry matter of organs INIAP Tenera oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jaca.) in La Concordia, Ecuador. Test independent Student t (a = 0.05) was used with three blocks. There were no differences (P 2 0.0776) due to the application of N with KC! or K,_,SO4 in the dry and raíny seasons, and no difference between times of fertilizer N or N use efficiency by palm plant. The N utilization efficiency was 0.24%, 8.79%, 16.49%, 2.43%, 1.70%, 0.1 1% and 29.93% for roots, trunk, leaves, green bunches, ripe bunches, pruned leaves and plant palm. The seasons rainy, dry and sources of K have the same effect on the uptake of N by the oil palm was low in the climatic conditions of the experimental site.
