Abstract

The article focuses on the analysis of the economic interactions among women of Quito communes with the city of Quito in the twentieth century, also inspired by the positions of Chandra Mohanty (1986/2008) and María Moreno (2007). This article reflects on the “hegemoníc discourse" that have defined what is indigenous, urban and identification parameters of indigenous women. The information was obtained through file review and specialist literature, and the application of techniques from historical anthropology. lt rescues the accounts provided by María Ojeda, ínhabítant of the indigenous community of San José de Cocotog-, during ñeldwork in 2009. With this, it aims to help rescue the visibility of the history of urban indigenous and communes of Quito, especially women, so rarely discussed in the social history of Quito.
