Abstract

The study deals with the subject of idioms: origin, evolution and influence in the teaching of English towards vocational training, with the aim of emphasizing its importance in the learning of another language, on the understanding that being part of the communicative competence has not been explored enough in the process. For this, the theoretical contribution of experts in topics such as slangs, cybernetic idioms, their value in the educational field as well as the putting into discussion of certain characteristics has been taken into account; concluding that although they come from the popular sphere and are developed in the daily life; they are not always exclusive use of a particular culture. In addition, today with the Internet have emerged new idioms that have transcended to cyber spaces. In the educational field, it has been determined that idioms enable students to expand their vocabulary as well as improve their communicative competence by offering spaces to interact more easily; However, in teaching and learning, teachers must use a methodology that allows students to abstract idioms that serve to improve their communication skills and, therefore, contribute to their professional training.
